Today, I'll recommend three more movies that you shouldn't miss if you love Chinese cinema or just want to practice your Chinese listening skills.

今天我会继续聊中文电影，不管你是影迷还是想通过电影提高中文，都不要错过今天的推荐。

Stonewalling

《石门》

In this 2022 movie, Lynn discovers she is pregnant and decides to keep the baby despite her boyfriend insisting on an abortion. She returns to her parents, and with the help of her mother’s acquaintance, Lynn plans to give the baby up for adoption, but the emergence of Covid complicates her situation.

《石门》上映于2022年。故事的女主角—林森不顾男友的反对，决定生下意外怀孕的孩子。之后在她母亲的支持下，决定用孩子来偿还母亲由于医疗事故而欠下的巨额债务。但突如其来的疫情让她陷入了两难的境地。

"Stonewalling" is based on interviews with college women and observations of modern China, highlighting aspects of Chinese society that are rarely depicted on screen. It's a long (almost 2 and a half hours) and slow movie, but one that I recommend you watch. Like some of the movies I suggested before, this one also provides a realistic portrayal of modern China. The Chinese spoken in "Stonewalling" is relatively easy to comprehend, so for a greater challenge, you can try watching it without subtitles!

导演在拍摄前采访了很多女大学生，了解她们的生活困境，在林森的身上可以看到很多中国女大学生的影子。电影将近两个半小时，剧情进展虽然不快但并不会让人觉得无聊。和之前推荐的作品一样，这部电影也讨论了当下中国社会的很多问题。电影中的中文不难听懂，如果你想要更难的挑战，可以尝试在看的时候关掉字慕。

Dying to Survive

《我不是药神》

Contrary to most of the movies I’ve recommended in my newsletters so far, this one has been a huge box office hit in China. While I'm not a huge fan of most modern Chinese blockbusters, this one I’d gladly recommend. It's probably more lighthearted than my other recommendations; however, it also deals with a very serious topic.

与之前提到的很多电影不同的是，《我不是药神》的票房很高。我对中国很多的商业大片不怎么感兴趣，但这部作品是个例外。《我不是药神》也讨论了很沉重的话题，但整体的叙事方式比较轻松。

It is inspired by the real-life story of a man with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) who gained attention for importing a cheaper, unapproved Indian version of the drug used for the treatment of CML. In China, the official drug was extremely expensive and not covered by health insurance. The film didn’t just receive a very warm welcome from Chinese audiences, but it also sparked a debate about healthcare costs in China.

这部电影是根据真实故事改编而成，有一位身患白血病的男子因从印度代购“假”药而受到关注。在中国这种抗癌药价格昂贵，而且不在国家医保报销范围内。电影上映引起很大的轰动，还引发了人们对中国进口药价格过高的关注。

Us and Them

《后来的我们》

This 2018 romantic drama was directed by Taiwanese singer-actress Rene Liu and is her first and (so far) only film. It was shot in Beijing and also in one of China’s coldest places, Hailar in Inner Mongolia.

这部文艺爱情片上映于2018年，导演叫刘若英。她来自台湾，是歌手也是演员。电影拍摄于北京和海拉尔，海拉尔是中国最冷的地方之一，位于内蒙古。

The movie is about a couple who met on a train while on their way home to visit their families for Chinese New Year. In the second timeline of the movie, we meet the couple 10 years after their first meeting and see how their lives and relationship have changed. It is one of the better-made Chinese romantic movies, and just like "Dying to Survive," this one was also a huge hit in Chinese cinemas.

故事的男女主角相识于春节回家的火车上，在另一故事线中，我们看到了两人十年之后再重逢的场景，他们的生活和关系都发生了很大的变化。这是一部很出色的爱情片，和《我不是药神》一样，当时也卖出了很高的票房。
