Boost Your Chinese Skills with This Free Gamified Learning App
From time to time, I check out new apps you can use to learn Chinese, and today I’d like to introduce you to one of the best I’ve found: Quizlet. This isn’t a sponsored advertisement as I actually use this app myself to study Thai, and I’ve found it to be a great complement to the language classes I take.
Before I dive into more details about the app, just a quick reminder: there are still a few spots left to grab the Black Friday discount on my 1:1 tutoring sessions: thechinesespeaker.com/blackfriday
Quizlet is essentially a digital flashcard app, but it offers so much more than just flashcards. Here’s how it can help your language-learning journey:
Flashcards: You can create your own sets with Chinese words, pinyin, and English meanings, or browse through thousands of pre-made sets on topics like HSK levels, tones, and everyday phrases. I also created two small set of flashcards for the videos I uploaded to my social media this week, you can gain access to them for free here:
Also feel free to follow me on Quizlet, as I plan to upload more and more flashcard sets in the future! If you have any specific requests for flashcards based on my past videos, just reply to this email, I’d love to hear your suggestions. 😊
Learn Mode: Quizlet tracks your progress and tailors the study experience to focus on the words and characters you find trickiest.
Test Mode: Practice with multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and matching questions to see how well you’ve mastered the material.
Games: Boost your memory and reaction speed with fun games like Match, where you pair words with their meanings against the clock. Also there are several other games that you can play together online with other people!
Audio Features: You can listen to the correct pronunciation of words, great for practicing tones and listening skills.
I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of everything this app can do. Instead of me going on about it for ages, why not try it out for yourself? Start with my pre-made flashcard sets and then explore the countless other sets (including HSK sets) created by others. If you enjoy gamified learning, I’m sure you’ll find Quizlet both helpful and fun!
