As winter sets in, I want to introduce you to a very special place in China that remains relatively unknown to most foreigners: Snow Valley (雪谷, Xuěgǔ). This charming small village nestled in the mountains of northern China, in Heilongjiang Province (黑龙江省, Hēilóngjiāng shěng), is famous for its picturesque winter scenery. Often blanketed in thick snow, the village transforms into a peaceful, snowy paradise, making it the perfect destination to experience traditional winter life in China.

冬天马上到了，今天在这里介绍一个很少被外国人知道的地方：雪谷。这是一个位于黑龙江省的小村庄。它被群山环绕，冬季被厚厚的白雪覆盖，仿佛变成了一个宁静的雪国天堂，因此而广受中国游客喜爱。

To reach 雪谷, most travelers start in Harbin (哈尔滨, Hā'ěrbīn), the capital of Heilongjiang Province, which is also renowned for its Ice and Snow Festival (冰雪节, Bīngxuě Jié). From Harbin, you can take a train or bus to Wuchang City (五常市, Wǔcháng shì), and then transfer to a local car or minibus to reach the village.

大多数游客会从哈尔滨出发去雪谷。在哈尔滨乘坐火车或大巴到五常市，然后换乘当地的小巴前往雪谷。哈尔滨是黑龙江省的省会，每年冬天都有非常著名的冰雪节。

In winter, this quaint village is unlike anything else you might see in China. There are no big hotels here, but instead, you’ll find cozy family-run guesthouses (农家院, nóngjiā yuàn). These traditional rural homestays offer a warm and authentic experience, featuring heated kang beds (炕, kàng) and delicious, homemade meals (家常菜, jiācháng cài).

雪谷没有大型酒店，取而代之的是温馨的农家院。住在这里最特别的体验是可以睡在温暖的火炕上，还有当地人做的家常菜。

During the daytime, you can explore the stunning snowy forests (雪地森林, xuědì sēnlín) through hiking (徒步, túbù) or try skiing (滑雪, huáxuě)，although the slopes are modest compared to other places. When the sun sets, the village comes alive as street vendors (街边小贩, jiēbiān xiǎofàn) appear, offering a variety of local treats. One must-try winter snack (冬季小吃, dōngjì xiǎochī) is sugar-coated hawthorn skewers (糖葫芦, tánghúlu), a classic sweet treat that is perfect for the chilly weather.

白天可以在雪地森林中徒步，也可以尝试滑雪，不过这里的雪道比较平缓。夕阳西下时，这个小村庄会变得热闹起来，街边小贩纷纷出现，售卖各种当地美食，冬季必尝的小吃是糖葫芦。
